Hazrat Sulaym ibn Qays was a person of high stature, immense value, and great reliability. His esteemed position is affirmed by Burqi’s testimony, which states that he was among the noble companions of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (a.s.), and Allama Hilli (r.a.) has also confirmed his righteousness.

Hazrat Sulaim (r.a) is a Tabai’i and, at the age of 16, visited Madina to meet Imam Ali (a.s). He is among the loyal companions of Ameer ul Momineen (a.s). Sulaim bin Qais is the first Muhaddith (traditionist) of the Islamic world, who directly narrates from Imam Ali (a.s), or from those reliable narrators who heard from the blessed tongues of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Ameer ul Momineen (a.s), such as Ammar Yasir (r.a), Abu Dharr, Miqdad, and Salman Farsi (r.a).

Khairuddin Al-Zarkali wrote in Kitab Al Aalaam, “Sulaim bin Qais Al-Hilali Al-Amiri Al-Kufi is among the early authors in Islam. He was one of the companions of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib.” Sulaim bin Qais Al Hilali Al Amiri Al Kufi is one of the early authors in Islam, a companion of Imam Ali (a.s), and his book, Kitab Sulaim bin Qais, is well-known.

Saad bin Abdullah Qummi (301 AH) has narrated in Basair u Darajat that Imam Ali Zain ul Abidin (a.s) said about Kitab e Sulaim:

“هَذِهِ أَحَادِيثُنَا صَحِيحَةٌ” (“These are our authentic narrations”).

Allama Baqir Majlisi has narrated in Bihar ul Anwar that Sadiq e Aal e Muhammad, Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s), said:

“Any of our Shia or follower who does not possess the book of Sulaim bin Qais knows nothing about our matters and affairs. This book is the foundation of Shia knowledge, and within it are concealed the secrets of the family of Muhammad (a.s).”

According to Nu’mani’s statement in Kitab al-Ghaybah, Kitab-e-Sulaym is not only one of the fundamental and reliable sources but is considered the most significant among them. All its content is authentic, either directly from an infallible (a.s.) or from someone whose narration is so credible that it cannot be rejected.

The author of Wasa’il al-Shi’a has mentioned at the end of the book that Kitab-e-Sulaym is one of the trustworthy books, with evidence supporting its authenticity. This book has reached a level of transmission through such widespread reporting by its compilers that we are certain of its accurate attribution to them, leaving no room for doubt.

حضرت سلیم ابن قیس ایک بلند مرتبہ، گرانقدر اور قابلِ اعتماد ثقہ انسان تھے۔ ان کے مقام کے لیے برقی کی اس بات پر گواہی کہ وہ اولیاء اور امیرالمومنین امام علی علیہ السلام کے بزرگ اصحاب میں سے تھے اور اس طرح سے علّامہ حلّی ؒ نے بھی ان کی عدالت کا حکم دیا ہے۔

آپ رضی اللہ عنہ تابعی ہیں اور 16 سال کی عمر میں مدینہ میں حضرت علی علیہ السلام کی زیارت کی اور امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام کے باوفا اصحاب میں سے ہیں۔ سلیم بن قیس عالمِ اسلام کے محدثِ اول ہیں، جو براہِ راست امام علی علیہ السلام سے روایت کرتے ہیں، یا اُن معتبر راویوں سے جنہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام کی زبانِ مبارک سے سنا، جیسے حضرت عمار یاسر رضی اللہ عنہ، حضرت ابوذر، حضرت مقداد اور حضرت سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہم۔

خیر الدین زرقلی نے کتاب الاعلام میں لکھا، “سليم بن قيس الهلالي العامري الكوفي: من أوائل المصنفين في الاسلام. كان من أصحاب الإمام علي بن أبي طالب”۔ سلیم بن قیس الہلالی العامری الکوفی اسلام کے اوائل کے مصنفین میں سے ہیں، امام علی بن ابی طالب علیہ السلام کے اصحاب میں سے ہیں اور ان کی کتاب “کتاب سلیم بن قیس” معروف ہے۔

سعد بن عبداللہ قمی (متوفى 301 ہجری) نے بصائر الدرجات میں نقل کیا ہے کہ امام علی زین العابدین علیہ السلام نے کتاب سلیم کے بارے میں فرمایا:

هَذِهِ أَحَادِيثُنَا صَحِيحَةٌ (یہ ہماری صحیح احادیث ہیں)۔

:علامہ باقر مجلسی نے بحار الانوار میں نقل کیا کہ صادق آل محمد امام جعفر صادق علیہ السلام نے فرمایا

“ہمارے جس شیعہ اور محب کے پاس سلیم بن قیس کی کتاب موجود نہیں، وہ ہمارے امر و اسباب کے متعلق کچھ نہیں جانتا۔ یہ کتاب تشیع کی ابجد ہے، اس میں آلِ محمد علیہ السلام کے راز مخفی ہیں۔”

کتابِ غیبت میں نعمانی کے قول کی بنیاد پر ،کتابِ سلیم اصولِ معتبر میں سے بلکہ ان میں سے سب سے بڑےاصول ہیں ، اس کا سارا محتویٰ صحیح ہے اور یا معصوم علیہ السلام سے یا ایسے شخص سے ہے جس کی روایت کی تصدیق اور اسے قبول کرنے کے علاوہ کوئی چارہ نہیں ہے.

وسائل الشیعہ کے مؤلف نے کتاب کے اختتام میں کہا ہے کہ : کتاب سلیم قابل اعتماد کتابوں میں سے ہے کہ جس کے قرائن اس کے ثبوت پر قائم ہیں اور یہ کتاب مؤلفین سے تواتر کی حدّ تک پہنچی ہے، یا ہم یہ جانتے ہیں کہ اس کتاب کی نسبت اس کے مؤلفین کی طرف صحیح ہے ،اس طرح سے کہ اس میں کسی قسم کا شک باقی نہیں رہتا.
